How do you edit text in a PDF file?
You need a PDF Editor for that:For Mac: You can use Adobe Acrobat DC or Master PDF Editor, both are excellent PDF editors and both of them support for filling up dynamic XFA forms (Master PDF Editor is the only PDF editor for Mac other than Adobe Acrobat DC with support for dynamic XFA forms). Truth be told all the features of Adobe Acrobat DC are available on Master PDF Editor and unlike the blood-sucking subscription of Adobe Acrobat DC you need to pay only an one time payment for $70 for Master PDF Editor. As of UI, well I like the simplistic UI of Master PDF Editor, but of course your opinion may vary from mine. For Windows: You can go for Adobe Acrobat DC, Master PDF Editor, or Nitro PDF Pro. I personally recommend Nitro PDF Pro because it not only has all the features of Adobe Acrobat DC and Master PDF editor but also has an UI that’s similar to Microsoft Office apps. Of course with a one time payment of $160 it’s pricier than Master PDF Editor but at least it’s still cheaper than the subscription plan of Adobe Acrobat DC.For Linux based distros: Master PDF Editor is the only good PDF editor for Linux, it’s the only PDF editor for Linux which has all the features of Adobe Acrobat DC, including the support for filling up dynamic XFA forms. It’s written in QT5, but it looks equally good in both KDE and GNOME3 (of course it looks better in KDE).For iOS: Just go for Wondershare PDFelements, it’s the one and only full fledged PDF editor for iOS. Just like a desktop PDF editor it lets you edit text, add or remove pages, add or remove images, reposition text or images, etc. The only thing it lacks support for dynamic XFA forms but then again none of the mobile PDF software so far have the support for dynamic XFA forms. For Windows 10 Mobile: You can go for Perfect PDF Ultimate, it’s the one and only full fledged PDF editor for Windows 10 Mobile. It’s a UWP app that works in Continuum too. It provides all the functionalities you get on a desktop PDF editor, it lets you edit text, add or remove pages, add or remove images, reposition text or images, etc. Yet again just like Wondershare PDFelements it lacks is support for dynamic XFA forms. For Android: There’re no full fledged PDF editors for Android. If you use Android then just forget it, all you can do is sign, annotate, highlight PDFs and just fill up non-dynamic PDF forms. Code-Industry, the creators of Master PDF Editor do have future plans to make their software for Android too, but right now they haven’t begun any development, but once they do it, it would not only be the first full fledged PDF editor for Android but also would be the first PDF software on a mobile platform with support for dynamic XFA forms. But as of now there’s no way to edit PDFs on Android devices.

How do I install a PDF editor in Ubuntu 16.04?
You don’t really need to install a PDF editor to edit most of your PDF documents on Ubuntu. Ubuntu comes with the LibreOffice suite. Using LibreOffice Draw, you can import and edit PDF documents. In case LibreOffice Draw isn’t what you’re looking for, there are plenty of PDF editors available for Ubuntu/Debian. I prefer to use Master PDF Editor.Open Terminal using [CTRL] + [ALT] + [T], and give the below commands:wget http://get.code-industry.net/public/master-pdf-editor-4.2.70_qt5.amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i master-pdf-editor-*.deb
The first line would download the installer for you, while the second line would install it.In case you face any issue during the installation, especially unmet dependencies, run the below command:sudo apt -f install

What's the best lightweight PDF editor? I'm looking for a portable desktop app, not a website. I only need stuff like reordering pages, removing pages, merging files, etc.
PDF-XChange Editor and Foxit Reader are two of the best free and portable PDF editor software for Windows. Both of these work similar to any PDF editor software, but you don’t need to install these to work on them. In terms of features, you get all standard features like Edit Content, Edit Comments, Digital Signature Verification, Stamps, Text Editor, etc. in these PDF editors. You can find more portable PDF editing software along with complete description about each software in this Portable PDF Editor article.

Why is Adobe PDF Reader 400MB?
Well, the answer is not so simple. It is equivalent to - if you can live with just food why is your house so big. Because it has an experience and “sets” of “utilities”. Better correlation : Windows OS : 20 GB , Mac OS : 7 GB , Linux : 1 GB. why so? The answer is simple “Experience”While answering for you, I have posted this on a website as well. Please feel free to comment there so that I can make changes if something doesnt sound right.First off all you need to know what experience are you looking for. While Adobe invented this, just pdf is not the world today. You might have noticed some PDF viewers breaking things apart when opening a PDF or doesnt print well while Adobe opens its just fine. The appreciation lies in the details. Why did you need pdf if images also showed you the same view and portability. There are a lot more finer details, see below. and broader too.The DC and Reader versions have different sizes. The pro version even more since it can edit too. It is now not just a reader but a suite in itself. The day you start using it as a offline discussion tool - you will see a difference. When you start using it for business transactions requiring validations of authenticity, you will see the difference.Finer inclusions. More details hereIn the order of increasing sizes — PDF Viewer PDF Processor PDF Graphics manager and processor PDF Graphics manager + embedded flash with typography engine …. list gets bigger and bigger when you add projection engine library, a 3D runtime. You can run forms, digital signatures, annotations and accessibility features.PDF to word, compliances with broader conversions etc.Broad strokes for a softwareFirst of all you should understand that all platforms (OS) have different capabilities on how they handle different things. For example, most softwares will be of bigger sizes in Mac than Windows. Reason : As most used OS, Microsoft continued to add some of the required services and capabilities as part of their OS while others did notBackward compatibility with old OS : Few features that used to be there in older systems may not be needed or low sized implementations in new still needs to be supported. Same reason why Windows or any software size continues to increase over time. While installing you need more space than the actual installation, msi, dmg, exe contain compressed data which is unusable when compressed. Needs to be opened after installation. All OS also use “Restore points” i.e. if your OS crashes, it can restore your computer back to where it was at that point. This requires the OS to save the copy of installer or related files. (Some software ask this at the end of installation, whether you want to keep the installer or not).

There are many gems to consider. The following article from RubyGarage is a comprehensive overview of many different gems, 57 Best Ruby Gems We Use at RubyGarage. If you’re looking to implement analytics, I’d also recommend checking out Segment and adding our analytics-ruby gem.
